About Kristi Lyn

My name is Kristi Lyn Reddy. I am often asked, do you go by Kristi or Kristi Lyn? You have two first names? It all started when my mom died in 2005. As a little girl growing up my mama had insisted on calling me Kristina Lyn now and then. Not always when I was in trouble mind you, sometimes just because. She would say that was what she had named me and therefore, what she would call me. I made it a point on the first day of school for my entire life to inform the teacher and the class my name was in fact, Kristi. Late 2004 my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer, stage II they said, not quite 6 months later we found out it was in fact stage IV, and we lost our mother unexpectedly. I decided I would go by Kristi Lyn, selfishly because every time I would hear my name I would think of my mother and smile. I am often asked if I am a Southern Belle, far from it, born and raised in Arlington, WA, a pacific northwest girl who grew up riding bikes in the woods behind her home.

In January of 2016 I was diagnosed with Stage I breast cancer and in November 2016 a rare from of uterine cancer. After 8 surgical procedures, 12 chemo treatments and a year of IV Herceptin every three weeks, I am cancer free. I walked through cancer with the grace of my mother, and the determination of my red hair that God blessed me with at birth. Through my journey I was surrounded with love, encouragement, and care from friends, clients and family near and far. Blessed in so many ways, my heart was full. Recently on a plane ride home from Toronto, BC I met a man who shared his story with my family after my son had told him I had beat cancer, twice. He said, “We are living in Bonus Time. Every day after facing the possibility of death should be considered Bonus Time, it is far better than regular time, better than holiday time and beyond comparison to vacation time. Nothing beats beating death and living.” And so, I relish in my Bonus Time and strive to remind myself often that I am blessed with this time and I should make the most of it.

I am a writer, a mother, a wife, a friend, a sister, a daughter, and a real estate broker. I am a daughter of God, a believer in the one who created me, saved me, and is waiting for me to join Him one day in Heaven. I am a Soccer Mom, and I love it. Watching my son play soccer (and any other sport) brings me great joy. I used to watch my daughter play soccer, now she is all grown and in her 7th year of teaching, currently teaching Third Grade. Through teaching she lives out her calling in life as a child advocate – providing a safe space for children to discover their identity, open their minds and hearts to differences in others – whether that be gender identity, sexual orientation, race and ethnicity, all the while learning to grow into their own potential while encouraging those around them to do the same. I am married to the most amazing man, Tom Reddy. He is my best friend, my lover, my #1 cheerleader, the father of both of my children (He adopted my daughter after we were married and then we gave her the gift of a brother), my everything! We aren’t just lucky, we are fortunate to have each other.

I have worn many hats throughout my life, a home school mama, a stay-at-home-working-mom, Sunday school teacher, Pre-school teacher, daycare provider, nanny, resident apartment manager, accounts payable and asset depreciation manager, residential real estate broker, owner and designated broker of Reddy Real Estate Team, LLC, writer and public speaker.

I love to read, write, walk, hike, run, cook, watch Soccer, NFL football and host social gatherings.

Words are powerful, I have felt their wrath, endured their suffering, and been healed by their warmth. My hope is to use them to spread light, life, peace and joy while providing my readers with entertainment, enlightenment, and exactly what they need to hear – real and make believe.
